Why EliteCart revenue differs from Shopify
Why the upsell, addon and order numbers in EliteCart Analytics don't match your Shopify reports, and how to compare them.
Last updated
EliteCart revenue and your Shopify reports measure different things, so they rarely match exactly. This article lists the concrete reasons, so you can tell an expected difference from a real problem.
EliteCart only counts what EliteCart added
Upsell revenue generated and Addon revenue generated only include items the customer added through an EliteCart upsell or addon. EliteCart marks these cart lines when they're added. The same product bought from a collection page or search counts in Shopify, but not as an upsell in EliteCart.
Indirect upsells (seen in the cart, then added from the product page within 5 minutes) are counted with a weight: 100% within 60 seconds, dropping to 0% at 5 minutes. See Understanding your EliteCart analytics.
Only Online Store orders
EliteCart Analytics only counts orders from your Online Store sales channel. Point of Sale orders, draft orders, Shop App orders and orders from other sales channels are not included, also not in Orders processed or the chart's order line. A Shopify report across all channels will show more orders.
How an item's revenue is calculated
- Revenue is the item price times quantity, minus the discounts Shopify assigns to that item.
- Shipping is not included.
- Prices are taken as they appear on the order, so if your store's prices include tax, the EliteCart revenue includes it too.
- All amounts are in your store currency.
Shopify reports that include shipping, taxes or a different discount view will therefore show other totals.
Refunds, returns and order edits
EliteCart records each order once, shortly after it's placed. Refunds, returns, cancellations and edits made later are not subtracted. Shopify's sales reports do subtract them, so EliteCart can be higher for a range with many returns.
Timing and date ranges
- New orders can take up to 60 minutes to appear ("Data may be delayed by up to 60 minutes").
- Days follow your store's time zone, and an order counts on the day it was placed.
- Analytics start on the day your EliteCart plan started. Orders before that are not included, also not in All time.
- The Last 7 days, Last 30 days and Last 90 days ranges end yesterday. Compare them with the same dates in Shopify, not with a "last 30 days" that includes today.
View orders shows more orders
View orders opens your Shopify orders searched for "EliteCart". Orders are tagged EliteCartUpsell, EliteCartAddon or EliteCartGift, so this list also includes orders that only contain a free gift. Use it to check single orders, not to match the totals.
