We're excited to announce a powerful new feature for EliteCart Professional users: Country and Market-Based Visibility for Add-ons. This enhancement gives you unprecedented control over which cart add-ons appear to customers in different regions around the world.

Market-based visibility builds on EliteCart's existing scheduling capabilities. We've supported market scheduling for rewards and banners for some time, and we're thrilled to extend this power to add-ons.
Setting up country-specific visibility is straightforward. In your EliteCart admin under Cart Design, simply navigate to your Addon settings and scroll to the Advanced section. From there, you can configure which countries should see each add-on using ISO 2-letter country codes.
Want to show an add-on everywhere? Just leave the country field empty. Want to target specific markets? Search and select the countries where it should appear. Changes take effect immediately.

Here's where things get really interesting. Market-based visibility works seamlessly alongside EliteCart's time-based scheduling feature, allowing you to create sophisticated, multi-layered visibility rules.

The trade-off? If a customer changes their market during checkout, Shopify Markets can guarantee the add-on automatically adjusts, while EliteCart's approach keeps the add-on in the cart. For most merchants, this isn't an issue, as customers rarely change their shipping country mid-checkout. In cases where they do, the add-on simply appears as a regular product they can remove if needed.

What plan do I need to use country-based visibility?
Country-based add-on visibility requires an EliteCart Professional plan. If you're on a different plan and want to access this feature, you can upgrade directly from your EliteCart admin.
How is this different from Shopify Markets visibility settings?
Both approaches let you control where add-ons appear, but they have different strengths. Shopify Markets works at the market level and can automatically adjust add-ons if customers change their market during checkout. EliteCart's approach offers country-level specificity and integrates seamlessly with your other add-on settings in one place. You can use either method depending on your needs.
What happens if a customer changes their shipping address during checkout?
If a customer changes their shipping address to a country where an add-on is hidden, the add-on will remain in their cart but won't be automatically removed. The customer can manually remove it if needed. Similarly, if they change markets in your webshop after adding an add-on to their cart, it will display as a regular product they can remove.
Can I use country-based visibility together with time-based scheduling?
Absolutely! This is one of the most powerful aspects of the feature. You can combine both time-based and market-based rules to create sophisticated visibility conditions. For example, show gift wrapping only in European countries and only during the month of December. When both rules are active, the add-on must satisfy both conditions to appear.
How quickly do changes take effect?
Changes to your market visibility settings take effect immediately after saving. There's no waiting period or cache to clear.
What country codes should I use?
Countries are identified by their ISO 2-letter codes (US for United States, CA for Canada, GB for United Kingdom, DE for Germany, etc.). The interface includes a search function to help you find and select the countries you want.
Can I show an add-on to all countries except a few specific ones?
Currently, the feature works by specifying which countries should see the add-on. To show it everywhere, leave the country field empty. To show it in specific markets, select those countries. If you need to exclude just a handful of countries from a large list, you'll need to add all the countries where you want it to appear.
Does this work with all types of add-ons?
Yes! Country-based visibility works with both Addon 1 and Addon 2 in EliteCart; both when used as custom addons or insurance, giving you flexibility across all your add-on offerings.
