NEW: Metafield boosts for EliteAI™ Ultra

Metafield boosts let your fine-tuned versions of EliteAI™ Ultra prefer products based on your own product metafields, not just tags, vendors, product types, and collections.
The Update
Since September, metafield rules have let you filter recommendations on your own product data. A filter is a hard rule, though: a product either passes or disappears. Often you want something softer. You'd like the matching products first, but you're happy for EliteAI to fill the rest of the slot with its usual best picks.
That is what a boost does. Metafield is now a boost type, so the same data you already keep in Shopify can move products up or down the list without removing anything.
What's New
Same value as the trigger item: Has the same metafield value as the trigger item lifts products that share a value with the item in the cart. A product from the same "material" or "collection line" moves up, with no list of values to maintain.
Different value: Has none of the trigger item's metafield values prefers products that carry the metafield but share no value with the cart item. Use it to push variety, like a different scent, color family, or roast.
Values you choose: Has one of these metafield values lifts products with specific values, for example "bestseller-line" or "new-season".
The usual strength scale: Each metafield boost uses the same five steps as every other boost, from Strongly dampen to Strongly boost. Dampen pushes matches down instead of up.
Boosts also shape catalog fill-ins: When a product has little order history, EliteAI tops up its recommendations from your catalog. Your boosts, metafield and otherwise, now reorder those fill-ins too, so new and long-tail products feel your rules from day one.
Impact on Your Store
- Prefer products from the same line, material, or fit without hiding everything else.
- Keep recommendations varied by dampening near-duplicates, such as the same scent in a different size.
- Reuse the metafields you already maintain instead of adding pairing tags.
Configuration
Upsells → AI upsells → Fine-tune EliteAI™ Ultra → your version → Boosts. Click Add boost, pick Metafield, choose the field and the match type, set the strength, and save.
Good to know
- Supported types are single line text and lists of single line text, with a definition under Settings → Custom data in Shopify.
- With a list metafield, sharing any one value counts as a match.
- Metafield boosts count toward the same limit of 5 different metafields across your live versions.
- Changes take effect on the next training run. Click Retrain now to apply them sooner.
Why This Matters
Filters decide what can show. Boosts decide what shows first. With metafields on both sides, your own product knowledge now steers the whole recommendation, not just the yes or no.
