NEW: Checkout Upsells

EliteCart upsells now live where intent is highest: inside Shopify Checkout. The new Checkout Upsells module lets you place a product-recommendation block anywhere on the checkout page - order summary, information step, shipping step - and powers it with the same flow engine, AI strategies, and design controls you use in the cart drawer.

The Update

Until now, every EliteCart upsell ran in the cart drawer. Once a shopper hit Shopify Checkout, the conversation was over. Checkout Upsells changes that. You build the module in EliteCart, copy its Module ID, drop the matching block into Shopify's checkout editor, paste the ID, and the upsell renders in checkout - for every order, including Shop Pay accelerated checkouts.

The block is its own module, so you can have several of them at once: a compact card in the order summary, a wider product list on the information step, a different offer on the shipping step. Each one is bound to its own Module ID, so a single change in EliteCart updates the right spot.

What's New

Three recommendation strategies

Pick how each block decides what to show. EliteAI Ultra generates recommendations from purchase patterns, embeddings, and cart context. Upsell flows uses your hand-picked products with triggers - the first matching flow wins. Hybrid: Flows + AI runs your flows first and lets AI fill the gaps when no flow matches.

Layouts built for checkout density

Two layouts cover the spots that matter. Compact card shows one product with a thumbnail, price, and CTA - ideal for the order summary where space is tight. Product list stacks 2-6 products with an optional quantity stepper for the information or shipping step, where shoppers have room to browse.

Design controls that match your checkout brand

Set the button as Primary or Secondary and the actual color comes from your Shopify checkout branding - so the upsell never looks bolted on. Choose Hidden, Thumbnail, or Natural images at three sizes, toggle compare-at prices and savings amounts, customize the savings text color, and apply a branded headline color. Star ratings and review counts can show directly on the cards.

Multiple blocks per checkout

Run different offers in different spots without rebuilding flows. Each block is a separate module with its own copy, layout, strategy, and AI enhancements - so an order-summary upsell can stay tight while a shipping-step upsell can go wide.

AI enhancements work the same here

When you use Upsell flows or Hybrid, the Smart Insert, Smart Boost, and Smart Extend enhancements refine your flow with cart-context AI - the same enhancements you already know from the cart drawer.

Impact on Your Store

A few high-value shifts you can run today:

  • One more product in the order summary - a Compact card upsell with a single complementary product, branded button color, and a clear CTA: "Add to order".
  • A wide pairing block on the information step - Product list layout, 3-4 hand-picked add-ons or AI suggestions, quantity steppers on so a shopper can grab two of something.
  • Different offers for different traffic - pair Checkout Upsells with your cart-drawer upsells to capture both early-funnel (cart) and late-funnel (checkout) intent.

Configuration

Navigate to Checkout → Create module, choose Upsell block, configure the strategy, layout, and texts, then click Save. On the module page, click Copy ID, then Open checkout editor, add the Elite Checkout Upsell block where you want it, paste the Module ID, and save the checkout editor. The status banner on the module page confirms when the block is found. Repeat to add upsells in additional checkout spots.

Checkout Upsells requires Shopify Plus and EliteCart Professional plan or higher.

Why This Matters

Cart-stage upsells catch shoppers who are still browsing. Checkout-stage upsells catch shoppers who have already committed - credit card in hand, decision essentially made. That post-cart window is the highest-converting moment in the entire funnel, and it has historically been off-limits to apps. Checkout Upsells brings your flows, your AI, and your branding into that window.
