NEW: Automatic gift pricing on any plan
Automatic gift pricing is no longer a Shopify Plus exclusive. Any store can now have its free gifts priced at $0 automatically, with no duplicate gift products to maintain.
The Update
Previously, automatically zeroing a gift's price in the cart relied on a Shopify Plus feature. Stores on other plans had to create separate $0 versions of their gift products and keep them in sync.
The new Automatic discount method removes that work for everyone. EliteCart sets up and manages a native Shopify automatic discount that makes eligible gift products free at checkout. The same product you sell at full price becomes free when it qualifies as a gift, and is charged normally otherwise.
What's New
Available on every plan: This method does not require Shopify Plus. Stores on any plan can offer automatically priced gifts.
No duplicate products: Give your gift products their normal price. When they qualify as a gift they are zeroed at checkout automatically, so you keep a single product that still sells at full price the rest of the time.
Managed for you: EliteCart creates and maintains the underlying Shopify discount. It appears in your Shopify admin under automatic discounts like any other.
Impact on Your Store
Running a gift-with-purchase promotion gets simpler. You stop maintaining shadow $0 variants and the inventory and reporting headaches that come with them, and the gift price is handled at checkout instead of relying on manual product setup.
Configuration
Go to Rewards & free shipping → Settings & design → Automatic gift application and enable Automatic discount. This method and Cart Transform both zero gift prices, so only one can run at a time, enable whichever fits your plan. For it to apply cleanly, make sure any other discounts you use are set to combine with product discounts.
Why This Matters
Free gifts are one of the most effective ways to lift average order value, and the setup should not depend on your Shopify plan. Bringing automatic gift pricing to every store means more merchants can run clean, low-maintenance gift promotions.
